Considering we're only on episode two, it's not surprising that we reach no definitive determination either mode past the 60 minutes's cease. In fact, Star Trek: Discovery refuses to rule out whatever possibility, taking the instance ready by the Terralisians and embracing all answers – at least for now.

Right now, no response is the wrong one, and 'New Eden' tackles a lot of these big ideas, touching on religion, organized religion, belief and rational in equal measure. As Pike points out to Burnham, information technology's a reinterpretation of sci-fi writer Arthur C Clarke's iconic Third Police force: "Whatsoever sufficiently extra-terrestrial intelligence is indistinguishable from God."
And then, are the signals the work of a divine being, or a technologically-avant-garde race Starfleet are however to encounter? Is the red angel a God, or something else with a plan we don't yet know? Is it emotional, or logical?
Whatever is going on, we're excited to find out the answers.
